Gallery Pics

When walking around i took some pictures of art pieces i liked. I mainly took the of illustrations projects because i really like comics. I chose though i thought were drawn really well or had some aspect that drew we towards them. I like darker pictures so the animal skulls were really my thing, thought the city scene was cool to.

Finnal Day

The END has come. The final day of pre-collage we set up our pictures and posters. It took about 2 hours, but it looked really cool when we finished. The dresses were set up in one room with most of the posters; The other room had our paintings. When the show started at 2 i went around looking at others work. I liked the illustrations comics and the dresses and work other fashion classes made. I had a great time a Parsons and thank all those who helped and taught me.

Magazine Pics

I posted some of the pages of the magazine i made. I wrote about the project and location i used for it. How the color swatches came from the location and how it all translated into the dress.

I also made a page about the accessory and how the wire design came from the wire fencing at our location. 

Some pages are just of pictures taken of the dress that i liked. Different angles and locations.

 

Work DAY

Sooooooo...tiring. Today we had to Finnish our magazine portfolios and print. i finished my magazine by 12 which was pretty early; the bad part was trying to print. First my poster wasn't printing so i struggled with that until it finally worked at about 2:30 (which isn't to bad). My portfolio on the other hand kept having problems and i couldn't get it to print till 5:00. it was torture, i wanted to smash the computer a couple times due to my frustration. I had finished my projects but i had to wait on the printer and struggle to get it to work.

I did learn how to work photo shop, and the printer though. I may not have enjoyed this last computer section but it was interesting to learn about and use.

Gouache or Photo

Finally finished my painting. It's of my dress, took forever. I basically did stippling with the paint for the dress. The rest of the painting is like y usual work. I figured stippling would create the best effect and it's easier to blend paint colors naturally using it; especially when using gouache(doesn't blend well). I think my piece turned out really well and i happy with it.

COVER

In computer class today i started working on my portfolio magazine. We mainly focused on the cover and fonts. I finished imputing all the necessary pics but i still cant find a good font or think of an elegant title. I'm not good at naming so it's kind of frustrating. (still hate the computer!)

On a more positive note i finished my art homework and i'm happy with the result. Its a silhouette piece but painted using 3 different colors but with similar tones (i think?). I chose the colors pink, purple, and blue.

COMPUTER

Portfolio design

yesterday, i learned The basics of the computer program needed for making my portfolio peace. Easy to say it was the most tiring and difficult coerce. I'm still having trouble with it and would prefer power point. We learned how to past pictures using it. Link things and set up the pages properly. After the lesson i can clearly state i a no good with computers.

Dress Painting

In class i also started painting my groups garment. We put our clothes on a model and painted it with a close of our pics behind it. The photo and unfinished peace are bellow. I will post the finished painting when its done.

SHAPE

In class today we started making these weird shape pictures, it's using a style that tries to mimic perspective bat is not truly accurate. We are to chooses 4 colors; 3 for the shape and one for the background. My colors are lie green for the background and Yellow for my lightest color, purple for the darkest and red violet for my medium. The image bellow is what i have done so far but i still have to color the shape.

Field trip

TODAY WE WENT ON A FIELD TRIP. We went to two museums, and looked at paintings. It was a cool but tiring experience; especially when after i had to return to 13th street to work on the dress. Luckily i finished my section of the dress quickly and am now waiting for the other pieces to be complete before doing finishing touches tomorrow. It was a long day.

COLOR

A Color wheel is what i completed today. Awesome Right! I made it painstakingly neat.

The major achievements today were creating our dress accessory, which is a wire necklace and completing that picture i talked about in my last post (similar to the white silhouette but with black shading). Other than that i completed most of the sewing of my dress and will apply finishing touches tomorrow. Very happy with my part and waiting for partners to finish theirs before posting complete look.

Today; though i guess i should say yesterday; i worked a bit ore on my dress. wanted to sew but forgot to buy a bobbin so i will complete it tomorrow. i also completed a picture which i will post later since i just completed it at 1:00 A.M.
 Its similar to the white silhouette paintings but this one has some detail inside the drawings too, like a comic. Ill update in the morning.

Museum

Moma

Tired, today i went to an art museum; Moma. The first exhibit wasn't really my thing, to any abstracts and pictures that looked like children's doodles. I can't see those as museum quality. i did like the giant food items though.

The cooler exhibits were an architecture one and an area that displayed some interactive video games. My favorite game was this one that had a guy running and jumping on skyscrapers, you command  when he is to jump while trying to avoid boxes and not smashing into walls. My high score was 1657m.

SEXY

Evolution

The dress has evolved from the sketches. we changed the top cut to a low V neck, and with a mostly open back is starting to look really sexy. We are going to add some braided straps to the back as well as chains. The dark green mermaid skirt my partner is making should also help complete the look. We are going to sew the garments, since were using mostly fabrics. They should be completed by Monday or Tuesday depending how we spend our weekend. The next update on the dress should feature the completed look. Looking forward to it!

MOOD

Shopping

FINALLY! We went to Mood to buy the fabric needed for our dress. There was so many selections. It was great! We got a beautiful dark green silk for the bottom of the dress, and a chain-mail like material (NO one had actual chain-mail) for the top. It was quite expensive but by splinting the cost and knowing how beautiful our dress will look; it was worth it. I'll post images of the dress in progress at a later date.

Gray Scale

This is hard, the lighting in my room makes it even more difficult. the homework today was to create a nine square shading of gray scale. I know i messed up a bit because my middle tone is lighter than the shade under it. i'll try to fix it tomorrow. My Attempted bellow...

Dress Design

DRESS

Today my group and i finally came up with a dress design. We decided on a simple silhouette, but it would have intricate detailing. The top of the dress would be a form fitting chain-mail piece; while the dress underneath would have a skin color top with a dark red or dark green base. we also decided on a gold trim design along the bottom of the dress. Our accessory will be a wire choker, but it's design is not finalized

MOOD

Before the dresses were created we were instructed to create a mood board. the feeling i was trying to capture was that of the brilliant city but when you look closer you see how dark and dangerous it can be. the feeling of y board was busy and bright; but the images used were all dark and haunting.

Yesterday in class we created a camouflage painting. we were to cover the background in camo and have the model in the middle of it. Mine isn't finished yet but ill post the finished product later. This is a picture of the background

During the weekend our homework was to create a white silhouette. the first one was done in class while the second still life was done at home. What i believe makes a good silhouette is very clean lines and good proportion. i tried to capture those to beliefs in mine. In y second silhouette i wanted to capture organic objects rather than straight things like desks. i believe they both turned out quite well.

Design

Today we created the color palate of our garment. We selected a picture and limited the colors. This created our color palate. With this and our location as inspiration i designed a few dresses. I tried to capture a dark mood but include an organic element to capture the picture of our inspiration.

HANDS

Today's assignment was to draw hands, i drew my own and my fathers. In class we practiced fast sketches of a model; so the main focus was to use lines to capture the general shape of the figure and not go into detail. I tried to keep the first sketch of my hand simple and accurate. While in the second picture of my dads hand i added crosshatching to give depth but keep the idea of line use.

My second class was more focused on ideas. we created an idea web on a place we chose for our garments inspiration. A dark stair case with green moss was our chosen site. This created a dark, morbid mood for our theme. 

The picture bellow is my creation of a morbid mood, it  incorporated elements of the idea web we created in class. It is my illustration of the feeling we are trying to recreate in the garment.
